Nanowrimo - day 3

Summary: taken ill last night, didn’t get much writing in

Some strange illness took over last night after (and possibly before) lunch. After about an hour of feeling light headed and like I was roasting, verging on the dizzy edge of nausea, I decided it was one of those extraordinary cases in which I actually felt like going home early from work. Once I got home, I passed out and slept for 12 hours.

I rarely do this – I tend to be an all-or-nothing kind of sick, so I’ll either be in to work, or I won’t. I mean, I’ll go into work late if it’s just a migraine that needs a couple hours in the dark to dissipate, and I’ll take the first day of a cold off to rest, but I typically show up the next day, regardless.

Anyway, I tacked on a couple more words today on the way to and from work. I did actually get in a little jumprope and a rep or two of light weights, but I never got that keyboard hooked up. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Summary: new routine?

I managed 864 words last night in an hour and a half. Not bad, that’s what I say. This morning, I woke at 7, hopped on the bus at 8:30, and wrote with my laptop on my, well, on my lap of all places. I hopped off the bus and walked the two blocks to my favorite coffee shop (the Coffee Garden), and grabbed breakfast and a mocha, then I started writing. Another mocha later, right before I packed up to head into work, I had reached 2,224 words. I’m still a little behind, but that’s better than I was expecting.

Tonight, I’ll possibly attempt to cram in a little more writing. However, I want to try out my new USB keyboard and fiddle around with GarageBand. I’d like also to try getting in a little sketching or digital painting in. I guess I’m hoping I can force myself to perform a complete creative reboot, shutting down my internal editor for the entire month of November. I don’t know if I can do it, but I sure as hell will try.

Tomorrow morning, jumprope and a little weights and sit-ups – if you’re going to throw out the old habits of “I don’t have time for this,” might as well throw out all of them, right?

Summary: got nothing done at the time of this writing.

‘Tis time for Nanowrimo again, and today is the first day. I’d like to participate. My girlfriend is going for it, as is our podcast hero, the mighty Mur Lafferty. Today just has not cooperated. No matter. I’ll get a thousand words down tonight somehow, even if it means lack of sleep. Hell, I started off this morning with only four hours of sleep, and I’m only feeling like I should be dead.

I would like, at this time, to iterate that I hate reinstalling Windows. And don’t you fret; I’m not stooping to say that I can’t write until I get that machine up (I’m writing this on my Macbook) – I’ll just have to squeeze that in someplace also.
